Requirement

The organization requires the implementation of a Logistic Area-wise Inventory Balance History Report within SAP Business ByDesign to address the need for detailed tracking and analysis of inventory balances across specific logistic areas. This report will empower stakeholders with the ability to monitor and evaluate inventory levels, movements, and trends with a focus on individual logistic areas, such as warehouses, bins, or storage locations.

Proposed Solution

We propose an Excel-based report to retrieve and display material inventory balance history categorized by logistic areas. This solution is designed to provide a comprehensive view of inventory data.

Technical Solution

Data Source

  • Combine data from the Confirmation Journal and Material Ledger Account Line Items to build a custom data source.
  • The Confirmation Journal  – Provides an overview of inventory changes and inventory movements, including goods issues/receipts/movements, inventory counts and products produced. It also shows changes to inventory as a result of confirmed logistics tasks.
  • The Material Ledger Account Line Items provide financial and operational details on material balances.
  • Create the report by using the custom joined data source and assign the report.
  • Logon the Excel report using SAP bydesign ribbon.
  • Insert the custom report

User Input Parameters

  • Users enter Valid From and Valid To dates to define the reporting period.
  • Upon clicking the Refresh All button in Excel, the report dynamically retrieves data from the custom report.
  • The refreshed Excel report loads inventory details such as opening and closing quantities, In and out Quantities, opening and closing amounts.

Benefits

  • Provides clear visibility into inventory levels and movements by logistic area.
  • Streamlines inventory tracking, reducing manual effort and errors.
